I have recently inherited a filigree engagement ring and wedding band from 1929/1930 (the wedding band is inscribed 11/1930… so I assume the engagement ring is older). It was my great grandmother’s. Ive yet to have it appraised because I have no intentions of selling it; I would love to keep it in the family. The ring is set with one center stone, and two small stones on each side. One of the smaller stones on the side is missing…
Would it decrease the value of this antique by replacing the stone?
(While I have no intentions of selling it, I would like to preserve it as best as possible)
While cleaning out my grams apartment, I found a ring, that was hidden in a jewelry box in paper.(She was put into a nursing home, and I’m supposed to get all her old jewelry) I was given the box no one knowing what was in it. The metal on it though was tarnished severly. The picture is almost an exact match. The only thing is the band was almost black in color and tarnished. Can white gold tarnish that bad if it is not taken care of for years? (All her other wedding bands are white gold…with the exception of one that is yellow gold). The actual band was in excellent shape, it was just black…has anyone seen sever tarnishing in a ring probalby bought in the 30’s and never really taken care of? (No one really knows exactly how long it was in the jewelry box to begin with).
I want to buy an antique ring to use as my wedding ring. I’m not looking for a traditional wedding ring design, just something old that looks good. Does anyone know good places to look for antique jewelry in Dublin?
My brother and I inherited an antique diamond engagment/wedding ring appraised at 14,000 dollars, I believe its a little over 3 carats. We were told that we were to sell it and use the money for college, however I cannot find any place where I think we can sell it for what it is valued at or even around what it is valued at. Any idea’s?
I tried ebay but it seems no one bids on really expensive rings, especially antique ones.

they are a bit expencive but i will be wearing it forever so a little extra cost is not that crazy to me
